At Remondis Recycling on the Ekkersrijt business park in Son, a quantity of waste wood caught fire around noon on Sunday afternoon. The fire brigade fought the fire with two fire extinguishers and a cherry picker. The fire caused a lot of smoke nuisance.
The fire in Son was under control around a quarter to one in the afternoon. “But it will take a longer time before everything is completely extinguished,” said a fire service spokesperson.
Measurements
Part of the business park was closed by the police because of the fire. “The fire service is taking measurements at the fish pond, the business park and the residential area across the A50 highway,” a 112 correspondent said.
An investigation is underway into how the fire broke out.
