Li see you too, right? In full heatas you doze lazily under the brim of your hat trying to chase away even the last remaining challenging thought, they are there ticking mercilessly on a keyboard. Whether it’s a mobile phone, a tablet or a PC, their head is bent over something that you too know well and that it’s called work. You can tell by the blank air that appears on theirs face wet with sweat and thoughts, and muscles tense in an effort which, at this point, should be reserved for a nice swim in the waves. But no: they work.
The limits of working “everywhere”
And here we must understand immediately: that smart working saved us during the hard days of the pandemic is clear. That in this middle period, in which infections rise and fall without the virus giving the impression of being definitively defeated, remote work has allowed everyone a productive continuity as well. But there is also a noticeable carry-over effect.
Who undergoes agile work?
With smart working we have pulled down the last diaphragm that separated work from private life, making everything indistinct and everything possible: call at dawn in slippers, phone calls on break with a full mouth and the fork to draw plans in the air, late-night emails with requests that suddenly appeared worthy of immediate answers.
So those you now have next to and who continue to produce, stoically indifferent to the heat and the lure of fun, belong to two categories: those who are actually on vacation but who have ended up considering this too, which has always been a territory. sacred, permeable to work demands. And those who are actually at work and who are trying to manage it from a beach instead of standing behind a desk in the gray city block.
But if it should seem to you that the latter are taking advantage of smart working while the former are undergoing it, know that this is not the case.. And that, if necessary, the former will become the latter and the latter the former. Because a wall has been knocked down and there is no turning back. And I can swear to you on the drink I’m drinking as I write these lines here, in front of the sea …
