Slowdive release new single “skin in the game”

The single is another foretaste of their album EVERYTHING IS ALIVE, which will be released in September.

Slowdive have released a new song with visualizer called “skin in the game”. It is the second single release from their forthcoming album EVERYTHING IS ALIVE. The British shoegaze band released the piece “kisses” on June 20th. Their fourth record, EVERYTHING IS ALIVE, will be released on September 1st via Dead Oceans – six years after the comeback effort the group self-titled SLOWDIVE.

Slowdive, consisting of Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead (vocals and guitar), guitarist Christian Savill, Nick Chaplin on bass and Simon Scott on drums, formed in 1989 and disbanded six years later. In early 2014, they announced their reunion. The newly announced album is dedicated to Goswell’s mother and Scott’s father, who both passed away in 2020. “There have been profound changes for some of us personally,” Goswell said in the press release.

The new single “skin in the game” is carried by Neil Halstead’s vocals and the associated typical, psychedelic slowdive sound. “If we’re all happy with that as a band, that tends to be the stronger material. We’ve always come from slightly different directions, and the best tracks are where we all meet in the middle,” Halstead explained of her approach to the new songs.
