BRATISLAVA (dpa-AFX) – Despite the high number of infections and one of the lowest vaccination rates in the EU, Slovakia relaxed its corona restrictions on Tuesday. Even unvaccinated people can now shop everywhere again. Previously, they were only allowed in shops that sell food or other essential goods. Restrictions remain in the catering trade and many service companies. There is still a curfew after 10 p.m. – regardless of the vaccination status of the guests.
Critics point out that not even half (46 percent) of the 5.5 million inhabitants in the EU member state are fully vaccinated and that almost 20,000 new infections are recorded every day. In view of the fact that the healthcare system, which was already exhausted in terms of personnel and finances, was already being overburdened before Corona, the easing is premature./ct/DP/eas
