Slipknot Replaces Craig Jones – New member at Slipknot

And again one less. It was only on Wednesday (June 7) that Slipknot announced that their percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan would not be part of the upcoming tour. On their Twitter account, they published a statement from Clown himself, in which he gave the reason for his absence. Because of his wife’s health problems, he cannot take part in the tour: “Hello to all our fans, this is the clown. I would like to take a moment to let everyone know that I am home to support my wife with some health issues and will be back on tour as soon as possible.”

Now their fans get the next piece of bad news: Keyboarder Craig Jones won’t be performing with Slipknot either. Never again. Taking to their social media channels, they wrote: “To our fans: Slipknot announces we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.” But a replacement has apparently already been taken care of. Slipknot posted a photo of the new member on Twitter shortly after the announcement. And the newcomer also appeared on stage with the band at their performance on Wednesday at the Nova Rock Festival in Austria. Jones was with Slipknot for 27 years. The reasons for his departure are not known.

It’s not the first time Slipknot has had to part ways with one of its founding members. Following the death of longtime bassist Paul Gray, Slipknot announced that Joey Jordison would be leaving the band in 2013. The Slipknot co-founder and drummer passed away on July 28, 2021 at the age of 46. The group later had a falling out with drummer Chris Fehn over financial issues, which led to him leaving the band ahead of their final album, We Are Not Your Kind.

The masked men from Iowa are currently on a major world tour with their album “The End, So Far”. The metal band’s seventh studio album was released in October 2022 and went straight to number one in the German album charts. Three concerts are planned for Germany.

All Slipknot concerts in Germany:

  • June 20, 2023 – Hamburg, Barclays Arena
  • June 21, 2023 – Berlin, Mercedes Benz Arena
  • June 24, 2023 – Munich, Königsplatz
