British newcomer Holly Humberstone writes about “universal things that everyone goes through and probably everyone can relate to”. She wishes to be like “a friend or just like someone who understands” to her fans – and it’s in this spirit that she delivers her new single “Sleep Tight”. “Sleep Tight”: Between romance and friendship
The single, which was created together with The 1975 singers Matty Healy and Rob Milton, also reflects the reality of the 22-year-old singer: Humberstone experienced the uncertainty that arises “when a friendship becomes more” last summer . The track is about “weighing the risks of getting hurt or losing the person” when the line between “friendship and romance” is blurred.
“Lighthearted and Carefree”
Despite the sensitive subject matter, Humberstone wanted to make a music video that would “lighthearted and carefree” tell a “funny” story. The Brit drives on the back seat of “a messy car through a sleepy area” and “just has fun”. The end of the clip surprises – the car drove itself the whole time and can even fly.
The “positive and summery” song always takes the musician back “to the first summer after the lockdown”. She and her friends used the time they “had their freedom back” to live “as if there were no consequences or impending heartbreak.” Summer is Humberstone’s “favourite season,” which is why she’s particularly excited to release the title now.

Most recently, the musician performed at the Coachella Festival, where she also sang the track in front of an audience for the first time. Holly Humberstone is currently touring as the opening act for pop singer Olivia Rodrigo, having previously toured with Girl In Red. In June she will be performing at the Tempelhof Sounds Festival, presented by ROLLING STONE.
Their current and second EP is called “The Walls Are Way Too Thin” and was released last year. She was honored in the Rising Star category at this year’s Brit Awards.
