Slash plays “Don’t Damn Me” live for the first time in Mexico

Slash performed the Guns N’ Roses track “Don’t Damn Me” for the first time. During the tour of Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators in Mexico City, the first live version of the song, released in 1991, was performed.

Slash: “‘Don’t Damn Me’ has too many words”

When the song appeared on the album Use Your Illusion, the lyrics were said to be a reference to negative press that singer Axl Rose had received. “Don’t damn me when I speak a piece of mind / ‘Cause silence isn’t golden when I’m holding it inside,” the song says. Slash, however, denied that the verse’s background had anything to do with the fact that “Don’t Damn Me” was never played live. “There are just too many words,” said the guitarist in 2014. “It’s a cool song. But even with Axl, we never performed it because it just has too many words that you can’t breathe between. That makes it impossible to play it live.”

Fans in Mexico could now see that it is not impossible. After the start of their tour, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators will continue through Central and South America before heading to Europe this year after stops in Australia and Japan. Guns N’ Roses, however, are not currently performing. However, the musicians are not idle: they recently presented an AI-generated music video for the song “The General”.
