Henrik Kristoffersen got the small crystal ball at the last slalom, the day victory went to a compatriot. Linus Straßer also showed a solid race.
In the last slalom of the season there was a dramatic fight for the small crystal ball. The currently strong Loic Meillard made it really exciting with a catch -up in the second round and fifth place in Sun Valley.
But it shouldn’t be enough: Henrik Kristoffersen kept his nerves and took another 23 hundredths of a second on Thursday (March 27, 2025). At the finish line, the Norwegian roared and clenched the fists-it is the fourth slalom ball for the 30-year-old.
Very close decision about the day victory
The day’s victory went to his compatriot Timon Haugan. Clement Noel (0.02 seconds) landed just behind him, and Fabio Grein from Austria (+0.37 seconds) finished third.
The fragile slopes really demanded the athletes again at the last appearance of the season. The Austrian Manuel Feller also sharply criticized the conditions after the first run: “That is very borderline”according to Manuel Feller on ORF: “It’s a shame that they didn’t take more water and salt”.
Linus Straßer solid despite a frightening mom
Linus Straßer (+1.34 seconds) ended up sixth despite a shock torque: in the first round, the 32-year-old was almost collided with a slope worker who was still on the track.
The Athlete from TSV 1860 Munich did not seem to react to the incident, apparently continued. But shortly after the campaign, he allowed himself a mistake and lost important tenths of a second. “I saw three goals in front of it that someone slips into me”so Straßer after the first round in ORF. “Then I calculated and noticed: It could just go out.”
Straßer would have had the option to swing directly and would have had the right to a re-run, but the slopes would then have become even brittle. “That was the little evil“, said the DSV driver.
Mixed season for Linus Straßer
A roller coaster season is coming to an end for the Munich team: A solid January followed a completely failed start to the winter. Straßer convinced when it counted and won the WM slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm bronze-the only medal for the DSV.
In the World Cup series, on the other hand, he didn’t want to succeed this season. After the race in Hafjell, Straßer spoke of a certain seasonal tiredness, mental and physically difficult weeks and months. In summer, said Straßer, he wanted to recharge your batteries again.
