Lothar Matthäus has been used as an expert in Sky for over a decade. Nothing will change in the future.
Lothar Matthäus is retained to the Pay TV station Sky. The record national player and the broadcaster agreed on an extension of the collaboration – and for an indefinite period. The media group from Unterföhring announced this on Saturday.
Matthäus will therefore “work for Sky Sport in the coming years”. The 64-year-old has been in use for the broadcaster since 2012 and is now going into his 14th season. Among other things, he accompanies the top games of the Bundesliga on Saturday evening as an expert and co-commentator. In addition, he will continue to be guests regularly at “Sky90” and continues to write a weekly column on skysport.de.
“For me, Sky Sport is the premium partner when it comes to the Bundesliga. That’s why I’m happy to continue working with this great team in the future,” said Matthäus.
Sky sports editor Alexander Rösner emphasized: “Whether as a player or on the microphone: Lothar Matthäus is one of the greatest personalities in world football.” The broadcaster is proud that Matthew continues to reinforce the team and are available for the best Bundesliga games. At Sky Sport, fans could continue to look forward to “his clear analysis, his direct words and his enthusiasm and love for football”.
From the 2025/26 season, Sky will no longer broadcast the Bundesliga conference on Saturday afternoon. This hikes to DAZN for four years. In the future, Sky will be responsible for the individual games on Friday and Saturday. DAZN also shows the Sunday games.
