Sky announces new documentary series about Phil Spector

Sky recently announced a four-part series about music producer and convicted murderer Phil Spector. The release date is still unknown.

Spector is one of the most famous music producers and is considered the pioneer of the “wall of sound” recording technique. He worked on several albums and songs throughout his career, including The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ (1970) and Imagine (1971) and The Ronettes’ ‘Be My Baby’ (1963). He died at the age of 81.

What really happened to Lana Clarkson?

On February 3, 2003, actress Lana Clarkson was found dead in Spector’s California mansion. He was then arrested. The series examines the lives and careers of Clarkson and Spector in light of Spector’s conviction for the actress’ murder. It was directed by Sheena M. Joyce and Don Argott and produced by Janet Ginsburg. The official description of the documentary series states:

“How were the fates of these two people intertwined? And what actually happened on that fateful night? Through the lens of this infamous crime and the hysterical media circus that ensued, this major four-part documentary series peels back the layers to tell the story of both Clarkson and the man convicted of her murder.”

Most recently, in 2021, there was a big stir about the late music producer when the Brit Awards published an obituary for him. They received a lot of criticism for including it in the “Obituary” section of their website, replacing the usual “In Memoriam” section that was shown live during the awards ceremony.
