Ski jumping: Markus Eisenbichler ends competition break

Ski jumper Markus Eisenbichler returns to the ski jump after a three-week break from competition.

The 32-year-old will be competing in the second-class Continental Cup in Willingen this weekend. The German record holder (248.0 m) and third place in the 2020 World Cup did not qualify for the Ski Flying World Championships taking place at the same time in Kulm.

In addition to Eisenbichler, who has recently been in poor form, the DSV team also includes German champion Martin Hamann, Olympic bronze medalist Constantin Schmid and Sapporo winner Felix Hoffmann in Hesse, where the World Cup will be hosted a week later.

After finishing 32nd and 47th at the Continental Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the beginning of January, Eisenbichler took a break and trained in Seefeld. The six-time world champion has not yet made it onto the World Cup team this season.
