Nicole Maurer (CAN)
Nicole Maurer at least keeps her chance for the second round after it goes to 116 meters. For now, that’s enough for her to finish fourth behind Seyfarth.
17:52
Sophie Sorschag (KOS)
After her separation from ÖSV, Sophie Sorschag has to fight her way through the World Cup alone. After solid training, things aren’t quite right for her and after she overdoes it on the take-off table, her jump is finished far too early.
17:52
Anna Twardosz (POL)
What is possible for the second Pole in the field? Unfortunately not much. The 22-year-old still has a lot to do in the flight, wobbles her skis a lot and after 111 meters it’s over again. Like her teammate, she will also be eliminated.
17:51
Daniela Vasilica Haralambie (ROU)
Daniela Vasilica Haralambie may not be able to keep up with the size of Pinkelnig, but the lone fighter from Romania doesn’t have to be dissatisfied. With her 119.5 meters she is initially in second place and will certainly be allowed to compete again.
17:51
Eva Pinkelnig (AUT)
Now we will see what is possible here today. It’s the turn of Eva Pinkelnig, the overall winner from last season and the qualification winner. Pinkelnig shows that she hasn’t forgotten anything on the hill despite the injury break and it goes down to 129.5 meters. First of all, it’s clearly a matter of leadership.
5:49 p.m
Pola Beltowska (POL)
Pola Beltowska is another of the very young athletes in the field. At the age of 17 she made her first jump in the World Cup and so there are still points in flight that can be used. There it is quite high above the bars and is braked. 106.5 meters will not be enough for the final.
5:48 p.m
Pia Lilian Kübler (GER)
What is possible for the next German athlete? The 21-year-old still has some room for improvement and after 112.5 meters and low grades she has to wait and see whether it will work out.
5:47 p.m
Emma Chervet (FRA)
Emma Chervet cannot keep up with the distances of the two DSV jumpers and has to land after just 109.5 meters. It should be a close affair for them heading into the second round.
5:47 p.m
Alvine Holz (GER)
For her part, Alvine Holz is taking part in the first World Cup of her career and she is probably still nervous. Not everything fits together at the jump table and she works a little too much with her arms, but after 116.5 meters she still has a chance of making it to the final of the top 30.
5:46 p.m
Juliane Seyfarth (GER)
It starts right away with a German athlete. Juliane Seyfarth wants to fight her way back into the World Cup team through the national group with good results and has already made a good impression in the qualification. Things get off to a good start straight away from gate 26 and the distance is 119 metres. The only thing that might annoy her is the landing, because she loses a lot of points when the left ski moves away.
5:38 p.m
The other favorites
The top favorites for overall victory are without question Josephine Pagnier from France and the Canadian Alexandria Loutitt, who made the best impression in the first competitions. But Yuki Ito from the Japanese team is also definitely worth having on the bill. She usually gets along well on large jumps. The Slovenians around Ema Klinec and the Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal also want to get involved. She showed top jumps in training, but probably struggles with the fact that she always voluntarily starts with a low hatch and, after many injuries, doesn’t land cleanly.
5:34 p.m
Arnet represents Switzerland
The Swiss team will be represented in Garmisch-Partenkirchen by Sina Arnet, but she will have a hard time reaching the top 30. It wasn’t enough for Emely Torazza to qualify.
5:28 p.m
Will you be back on the road to success in front of your home crowd?
The German ski jumpers, who have not yet achieved top results this season, would like to get back on the road to success in front of their home crowd. The team is led by Katharina Schmid. In addition to her, Anna Rupprecht, Selina Freitag, Luisa Görlich as well as Juliane Seyfarth, Alvine Holz and Pia Lilian Kübler from the national group are also taking part in the first competition. Pauline Heßler, however, missed the jump into the top 40. Agnes Reisch is also missing after she was disqualified.
5:20 p.m
Peeing returns
Eva Pinkelnig returns to the World Cup. Last season’s overall winner strained her knee in training shortly before the start of the season and had to miss the first competitions. Pinkelnig proved that she is in shape by winning the qualification. In the ÖSV team, Marita Kramer, Chiara Kreuzer, Lisa Eder, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Julia Mühlbacher were nominated for the Two Nights Tour.
5:15 p.m
Lundby ends her career
Maren Lundby will not be represented on the tour. The Norwegian announced her resignation shortly before Christmas. Lundby took part in a total of 161 World Cups in her career and celebrated 30 victories, making her the most successful athlete in women’s ski jumping after Sara Takanashi. In addition to the opportunity, Lundby has constantly fought to ensure equality with the men and, among other things, played a major role in the fact that the female ski jumpers were allowed to take part in ski flying for the first time last season.
5:10 p.m
Women have to keep waiting for a legendary tour
While the men are already embarking on the 72nd Four Hills Tournament these days, the women will have to wait until they too are integrated into the traditional event. This year too, plans for a full-fledged Four Hills Tournament failed after the ÖSV canceled for logistical reasons. Instead of the complete tour, there is only a “mini tour” for the ski jumpers. The men’s race starts opposite in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the turn of the year there will be an exchange and the women will go to Oberstdorf.
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the women’s New Year’s Eve tournament from Garmisch-Partenkirchen! The live ticker begins in good time before the start.
