Pius Paschke (GER) vs. Constantin Schmid (GER)
It goes into the German duel between Pius Paschke and Constantin Schmid. Paschke submits, but at the end of the jump frustration dominates again. After 123.5 meters there will probably be no progress, because Schmid is actually stronger there. He gets his timing right and comes down to 133 meters. The grades are also right and so Schmid can settle for a good sixth position. Paschke is the second German after Leyhe out.
16:55
Anders Fannemel (NOR) vs. Manuel Fettner (AUT)
Anders Fannemel skipped the test and is now making his first jump of the day on this facility. After 128.5 meters, however, he has to hope for the lucky loser, because Manuel Fettner does not give up and lays the 134.5 meters soft as butter in the snow. Fannemel is the lucky loser in third place ahead of Eisenbichler. Geiger continues to top the list.
16:53
Fatih Arda İpcioğlu (TUR) vs. Johann Andre Forfang (NOR)
It’s already going into the next duel. Fatih Arda İpcioğlu opens and again shows that the 25-year-old is not yet stable in his performances. With 126 meters he certainly falls short of expectations. The facility in Bischofshofen was supposed to suit him. Forfang doesn’t stay long at İpcioğlu and it’s a long way down the slope. 134.5 meters bring him the sovereign duel victory and fourth place behind Raimund. İpcioğlu is eliminated because his jump is not enough for the lucky losers either.
16:51
Daniel-Andre Tande (NOR) vs. Philipp Aschenwald (AUT)
The jury set the gate relatively high and so there are a number of big jumps. For Daniel-Andre Tande the 131 meters jump out. His duel opponent is Philipp Aschenwald, who feels the pressure of the national group here. With 132 meters, he copes better, but cannot impose himself and wins the duel with a lead of just 0.1 points. What a tight number!
16:48
Danil Vasilyev (KAZ) vs. Philipp Raimund (GER)
Danil Vassilyev doesn’t have to hide and although he has to intervene briefly in his jump, he still manages a respectable distance of 127.5 meters. But Philipp Raimund is not impressed by this and hits another enormously strong jump! The 22-year-old only landed after 136 meters. Raimund wins his duel and is third behind Hörl and Lindvik.
16:46
Giovanni Bresadola (ITA) vs Robert Johansson (NOR)
Giovanni Bresadola didn’t get along at all in his test jump. Things are going better for the young Italian now, but with 125 meters Robert Johansson doesn’t have an unsolvable task on his way. The anger in the outlet is huge, because he knows that it probably won’t be enough. Johansson is currently not in the best form after physical problems, but manages a good distance of 133.5 meters. He wins the duel and is currently third in the overall standings. Bresadola displaces Leyhe from the lucky loser list.
16:44
Antti Aalto (FIN) vs Lovro Kos (SLO)
Antti Aalto is clearly the underdog in his duel. With 129 meters, he now makes a really nice jump for his standards. But is that enough for Kos? The 23-year-old Slovenian makes it exciting and comes to 130 meters. He narrowly wins the duel against Aalto.
16:42
Markus Eisenbichler (GER) vs. Daniel Tschofenig (AUT)
In the trial round, Eisenbichler was clearly inferior to Tschofenig, what can he do now? A solid jump to 130 meters. Tschofenig is not impressed by this and counters with a cleanly placed 132.5 meters. He wins the duel and so Eisenbichler, as the third DSV jumper, has to hope that it will work out over the lucky losers. He is second there behind Geiger.
16:40
Jan Hörl (AUT) vs. Pawel Wasek (POL)
Jan Hörl experienced a difficult qualification yesterday, today the Austrian is doing much better on the home hill and with 135.5 meters he has set the previous best distance in the round. Pawel Wasek cannot keep up and has to land at 123.5 meters. In the lucky losers, de Wasek takes second place ahead of Leyhe.
16:38
Maximilian Ortner (AUT) vs. Stephan Leyhe (GER)
Maximilian Ortner from the national group of the Austrians makes the start in the next duel. The 20-year-old improves his practice and clenches his fist after 127.5 meters. With that, he gave Leyhe a small task to take on and he actually quarrels with his younger knockout opponent! Leyhe only comes to 123 meters, loses the duel and will also have a hard time with the list of losers. Ortner can look forward to the first World Cup counters!
16:35
Artti Aigro (EST) vs Gregor Deschwanden (SUI)
Artti Aigro against Gregor Deschwanden is the next duel. In the rehearsal, the two jumpers were close together and so it could be exciting to progress. Aigo has some movements in the air and it comes down to land at 121.5 meters. Normally, Deschwanden should be able to skip this mark. He doesn’t come through perfectly either, but after 124 meters he easily secures his participation in the final.
16:33
Naoki Nakamura (JPN) vs. Andreas Wellinger (GER)
In the second duel it is the next German’s turn. Naoki Nakamura meets Andreas Wellinger. The Japanese starts with 122 meters. A task that Wellinger can actually solve and does! Wellinger goes down to 131.5 meters and wins the duel, even though he saw some improvements in his jump himself.
16:32
Marius Lindvik (NOR) vs. Karl Geiger (GER)
It’s served and right at the beginning a highly exciting duel awaits us with Marius Lindvik against Karl Geiger. Lindvik gets off to a good start and sails down to 134.5 meters. On top of that, there are high values in posture. Not an easy task for Karl Geiger. What can he follow? He gets along well and goes to 131.5 meters. It’s not enough for Lindvik, but he will have a good chance of progressing through the lucky losers.
16:24
Granerud with sovereign rehearsal
Halvor Egner Granerud didn’t show any sign of nervousness in the trial round. The Norwegian jumped 140.5 meters and was the strongest jumper. Anze Lanisek got a meter further, but had one hatch more run-up. Stefan Kraft was third in the rehearsal. Things didn’t go well for Kubacki, however, and he was 16th in the rehearsal.
16:20
Deschwanden was the only Swiss
In Switzerland, nothing has happened to Innsbruck and Gregor Deschwanden has to tackle the last stop of the tour as the only representative of his team. It is his turn today in the third duel against the Estonian Artti Aigro.
16:14
Eleven Austrians in competition
In the ÖSV jumpers, who have their national group at the start in Bischofshofen, eleven athletes made it into the competition. Behind Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayböck, Clemens Aigner was able to surprise in ninth place in qualifying, making perfect use of his chance from the national group. In addition to Aigner, Maximilian Ortner, Francisco Mörth and Markus Müller also made it into the top 50 from the national group. Manuel Fettner, Philipp Aschenwald, Daniel Tschofenig as well as Jan Hörl and Clemens Leitner are also in the final competition of the tour.
16:09
Difficult tour for DSV jumpers
For their part, the German athletes can look back on a difficult tour and things have not gone well in Bischofshofen either. Only youngster Philipp Raimund can actually be satisfied, who came into the team for the opening competition without any knowledge and has so far been in the top 15 in every competition. This brand should be Raimund’s goal again today. Karl Geiger, Andreas Wellinger, Stephan Leyhe and Markus Eisenbichler are already in the first duels today after weaker qualifying results. Pius Paschke and Constantin Schmid meet in an inner-German duel.
16:03
Can you hold your nerves?
The big question for Halvor Egner Granerud today is probably only whether the nerves will hold up. Because if nothing unforeseeable happens, the Norwegian can’t really take the win away. Granerud is ahead of the hill in Bischofshofen, which he proved once again in yesterday’s qualifying with his victory. It should be an almost impossible task for Kubacki to catch up on 23.3 points.
15:49
Will Granerud take the overall win?
Before the last two jumps of the Four Hills Tournament, Halvor Egner Granerud is the big favorite for overall victory. The Norwegian has 877.8 points before the final in Bischofshofen. 23.3 points missing Dawid Kubacki from Poland. Anze Lanisek is already 54.3 points behind after his weak start in Oberstdorf and is already considered a blatant outsider when it comes to winning the tour. If Granerud takes the win it would be Norway’s first overall victory in 16 years.
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the Four Hills Tournament from Bischofshofen! The live ticker begins in good time before the start.
