Ski Jumping FIS Ski Flying World Championship: Live Ticker – HS 240 Team Day 3

17:11

At 5:30 p.m. we continue

After a short break, at 5:30 p.m., the finale in the team decision continues. We’ll be back on time!

17:10

Slovenia leads confidently

As expected, Slovenia is at the top of the rankings after the first round. The quartet takes a lead of 63.4 points into the final round. The German team was able to take second place with four stable flights. 13.8 more points behind are the Austrians in bronze. Norway follows in fourth place ahead of Poland, Japan and Finland.

17:08

Strong jump by Stefan Kraft

17:08

Austria

What can Stefan Kraft bring down for the Austrians now? A really good sentence too! With similar wind conditions, Kraft goes down to 224 meters. In the attitude there are three times the 19.5, with which Austria can make up a few points again.

17:07

Karl Geiger keeps Germany in second place

17:06

Germany

Karl Geiger finishes for the German quartet and he can jump over the vastness of Lindvik again. Germany remains on course for a medal and is back in second place behind Slovenia.

17:06

Norway

Marius Lindvik was able to win the individual title yesterday, today he has to give everything for his team and is now delivering the 221.5 meters. Can he bring his quartet closer to Germany and Austria again?

17:05

Anze Lanisek sets the new record

17:04

Slovenia

Slovenia lets it rip again! Anze Lanisek can top the performance of his teammates and burns the 234 meters into the snow. On top of that there are top marks of twice the 19.5 and the 19.0. What a performance the team is putting on here!

17:03

Japan

Ryoyu Kobayashi is probably one of those who hoped for more from this Ski Flying World Championships. Can he again show good flights from the hill in Vikersund? The 25-year-old gets into his flight much better, lies nicely over the skis and can bring down the 224.5 meters. Kobayashi leaves the outlet satisfied.

17:01

Poland

Jakub Wolny was able to conquer the role of final jumper for the Poles with good performances. What can he deliver now? Have a good flight again. He comes calmly through the tailwind and sets the 215.5 meters for Poland.

17:00

Finland

It is the turn of the last group in the first round and the whole thing will be opened again by the Finns, who probably booked seventh place here. Niko Kytösaho comes in at 196.5 meters to land.

16:58

Austria

Manuel Fettner makes the last flight in this group for the Austrians. With 213 meters and a slight tail wind, the ÖSV team remains in third place for the time being. Slovenia is now 49.8 points ahead of Germany. Austria is already 55.2 points behind Slovenia.

16:58

Eisenbichler with 211m

16:57

Germany

Markus Eisenbichler has less to laugh about after his jump. With a few mistakes in flight, he can’t get the most out of his jump and after 211 meters he loses some points for his team.

16:56

Granerud comes dangerously close to the gang

16:56

Norway

Halvor Egner Granerud slipped into the team at short notice in place of Johansson, who had to withdraw with a back problem. As in this season, the 25-year-old comes off the table quite crooked and drifts pretty close to the gang. After 219 meters, he still does a good job overall.

16:55

Crazy jump by Zajc despite the shortening and a tailwind

16:54

Slovenia

The coach decides to let go of his athlete now with one less gate. The right decision, because Timi Zajc takes his flight far down into the valley and his team is credited with 229.5 meters. With more than 100 points, Slovenia is already ahead of Poland. What’s next for the rest of the teams?

16:52

Japan

Junshiro Kobayashi has also struggled with the system so far and so he doesn’t go beyond 200 meters either. Japan will continue to lose ground.

16:52

Poland

phew! Kamil Stoch only managed a few flights in Vikersund and today the Pole couldn’t do what his team needed. With 194 meters he is ahead of Finland, but he will not put the competition under pressure.

4:50 p.m

Finland

Kalle Heikkinen is the weakest starter in the Finns’ team and so you certainly can’t expect any jumps from him now. The 22-year-old would certainly have wished for more than 154.5 meters.

16:48

Ulrich Wohlmentioned cannot counter

16:48

Austria

Ulrich Wohlmentioned tries to tease everything out of his flight. But he can’t get close to Wellinger and has to set his telemark in the snow at 210 meters. Austria ranks third behind Germany. After two groups, the leaders are the Slovenians.

16:47

Great jump by Andreas Wellinger!

16:46

Germany

Andreas Wellinger clenches his fist! He has good speed on the approach, can take that into his jump and let it rip for his team with 226.5 meters. Germany is 16.7 points behind the Slovenian team.

16:45

Norway

Restrained facial expressions at Daniel-Andre Tande. The 28-year-old had certainly hoped for more than the 201.5 meters. He waves the exit disappointed. Norway falls behind Poland in third place. 51 points are already missing to Slovenia.

16:45

Peter Prevc sails at 231m

16:44

Slovenia

Now it’s back to the Slovenians. After his brother Domen, it is now Peter Prevc’s turn and he brings the next long flight for his team. It is very easy for him up to the 231 meters. There are plus points for tailwind and high 19 values for posture. Now it will be interesting again how the competitors can counter.

16:42

Japan

Naoki Nakamura now has tailwind again, but hasn’t found the answer for this hill yet. With 186.5 meters, the Japanese are now really losing.

16:42

Poland

Dawid Kubacki was not nominated for the individual competition. For the team flying, he got the confidence of the training again and was placed second. With a slight updraft, however, he cannot unpack the really big flight. In flight, the veteran has a lot of work to do, giving meters away. With 213 meters he can keep Poland ahead of Finland, but is that enough to catch up?

16:40

Finland

The second group of the first round starts with one more hatch. From there it runs really well and he can sail down to 222 meters. This is a new personal record for him. The joy in the exercise area is correspondingly huge for the 24-year-old.

16:38

Austria

Michael Hayböck completes the first group. He has similar conditions as Forfang and Freund before, what can he deliver with that. A decent width too. After 216 meters the Austrians start in second place and are only 6.7 points behind Norway.

16:37

Severin Freund puts Germany on course

16:37

Germany

It is Severin Freund’s turn for the German team. Can he also keep the team on course? Yes! At 211.5 meters, he can even sail over the expanse of Forfang and still takes good grades with him. This put the DSV team in third place ahead of Norway.

16:36

Norway

Johann Andre Forfang didn’t get along at all in the rehearsal. Can he shake that off now that it matters? The 24-year-old comes through better at the top and can show the 210.5 meters. Of course, that’s not enough for Slovenia, but his team is still 13 points behind. Japan is in between, but they don’t have four strong starters.

16:34

Domen Prevc opens for the favourites

16:34

Slovenia

Now it is the turn of the first jumper from the big favorite. Domen Prevc also shows why. As usual, he starts his flight with a lot of aggressiveness and speed and lies deep between the bars. It will be 222 meters and thus the lead in front of Japan.

16:33

Japan

What can Yukiya Sato do about it? The Japanese has been strong in previous rounds here, but now has to show what he can do with a tailwind. And that’s not bad at all. At 215.5 meters, he can fly the expanse of Zyla. Japan just overtakes.

16:32

Poland

Piotr Zyla starts for the Polish team and he has a really difficult time with a tailwind. He tries everything and can still get the 210.5 meters out for his team.

16:31

Finland

Antti Aalto opens the team decision in Vikersund for the Finnish team. With hardly any wind support, however, Aalto has a hard time and can’t get more than 169 meters.

4:30 p.m

Eisenbichler is allowed to fly

16:28

What to expect today?

16:24

look at the sample

In the rehearsal it was clearly the Slovenians who dominated the field. If you add up the points from the test, the Slovenians would have scored 529.4 points and would have been 127.2 points ahead of Austria. The German team was third overall, followed by Poland and Norway, where Forfang completely screwed up his test jump.

16:19

Austrians hot for a medal

The team from Austria should also be hot for a medal. Here the coaches decided to put one of their stronger athletes in the first group. Michael Hayböck begins, followed by Ulrich Wohlmentioned. Manuel Fettner jumps in third position. Stefan Kraft, who won bronze yesterday, will be the final jumper.

16:15

The German team

The DSV team had hoped for more from the Ski Flying World Championships and nobody could compete for the medals in the individual competitions. Today, however, the opportunity is there, even if the competition is fierce. Severin Freund and Andreas Wellinger should open for the quartet. Third place was taken by Markus Eisenbichler, who beat Constantin Schmid. Karl Geiger, who showed long flights on Saturday, should graduate.

16:08

Slovenia the top favourite

The team from Slovenia is the clear top favourite. Domen Prevc, Anze Lanisek, Timi Zajc and Peter Prevc were all in the top 6 in the individual decision yesterday and if you add up the individual results from Saturday, then the quartet would have won gold with a clear lead over the competition. Slovenia also dominated today’s trial run and the four starters took places one to four. Behind it, the field is more open. Norway, Germany and Austria belong to the inner circle around the medals.

16:01

Competition despite only seven teams

There was brief confusion in Vikersund before the weekend when it became clear that only seven teams would also report for the team decision. Because the regulations of the FIS stipulate that at least eight teams must take part in order for a team competition to take place. In the end, however, the International Ski Association suspended this rule, so that today, despite a small starting field, it is all about medals.

15:55

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the last day of the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund, Norway. At the end of the day, from 4:30 p.m., team flying is on the program.
