Even after the Four Hills Tournament, only five German ski jumpers will compete in the World Cup.
The DSV Eagles once again missed the necessary top places in the second-class Continental Cup (COC) at the weekend; instead, Austria, Japan and Norway secured a sixth starting place for the competitions in Zakopane (January 10th/11th) and Sapporo (January 17th/18th).
Austria is even sending seven jumpers into the race in Poland and Japan, as Stephan Embacher, as junior world champion, enjoys a personal right to start in the World Cup.
The COC victories in Engelberg/Switzerland were won by the Austrian Clemens Aigner (Saturday) and Benjamin Östvold from Norway (Sunday) at the weekend. The best Germans were Adrian Tittel (25th) and 24 hours later Lasse Deimel (31st). Old champion Noriaki Kasai was also at the start again; the 53-year-old Japanese took places 20 and 21.
