Kramer and Freitag are missing
The winner from the day before, Marita Kramer, is not in the second individual competition. The leader in the overall World Cup tested positive for Corona, after which the team of Austrian jumpers left Willingen early. Kramer’s teammates all tested negative.
The second best German is currently Juliane Seyfarth in 15th place. Pauline Hessler, who is 19th and 88.2 points behind the leader, also has no chance of a place on the podium. Selina Freitag skips the second individual competition. The Saxon had a bad fall on Saturday when landing. Fortunately, a worse injury could be ruled out shortly before the Olympic Games.
Gusty winds create different conditions
As on Saturday, when the second round was canceled due to the difficult weather conditions, the athletes had to be patient on Sunday. The start was pushed back by two and a half hours. And again the gusty winds made for very different jumps.
Kustova was initially able to make the best use of the conditions and covered a whopping 150 meters in the snow with a strong updraft. Seyfarth, on the other hand, had significantly less wind support and had to place himself further back in the field at 107 meters. Hessler was even more unlucky, as she practically jumped into a wind hole and did not get past 93.5 meters.
Kriznar sets record
Althaus, on the other hand, once again proved her outstanding form and landed via telemark after 145 meters. Previously, Kriznar had smashed the best distance into the snow, setting a new official record in a ski jumping competition.
The World Cup in Willingen is the last yardstick for the ski jumpers before the Olympic Winter Games. In Beijing, the women’s individual is already planned for the first day of competition (February 5). Althaus won the silver medal at the Pyeongchang Games four years ago.
