DSV spokesman: “Got away with abrasions”
The athlete who was nominated for the Olympic Winter Games starting next week was able to leave the run-out on her own. “We were obviously lucky in misfortune,” said the spokesman for the German Ski Association, Florian Schwarz, on Saturday on ZDF. “She apparently escaped with abrasions.” Schwarz added: “Greetings from Selina, she has already given both thumbs up.”
The competition was canceled after just one round due to strong winds. Katharina Althaus took second place behind the Austrian Marita Kramer, who was outstanding this winter. The woman from Oberstdorf jumped 126.5 meters. For the first time, the ski jumpers are holding a World Cup on the huge ski jumping facility in Hesse.
The Austrian Eva Pinkelnig spoke of irregular conditions in view of the wind conditions. “After the fall from Selina, I should have said for myself, I’ll leave it,” she said after her first jump and announced: “If there’s a second round: I won’t jump anymore today.”
