Skhiri-Aus at 1. FC Köln is getting closer

Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln will probably lose top performer Ellyes Skhiri after the season.

“My situation is clear: my contract expires in the summer,” said Tunisia’s world championship driver on Thursday. The club knows “that I want to improve and maybe try something new”.

Skhiri reported that he had already talked to managing director Christian Keller and trainer Steffen Baumgart. “This summer can be an important moment in my career. I don’t know what will happen,” said the 27-year-old. He also “can’t say that it’s over at FC”.

Most recently, the midfield engine was also associated with league competitor Eintracht Frankfurt. Skhiri praised the Hessians who had “improved over the past two seasons”. He did not want to rule out a move to the Europa League winner. “We’ll see,” he said.

Already in January there was interest from the French first division club Olympique Lyon. “Yes, that’s true,” said Skhiri, “but I canceled, I prefer to stay here and finish the season. I feel good here.”
