The Briton Matt Weston has won the men’s individual competition at the Skeleton World Cup in Lake Placid. Bronze went to Axel Jungk behind Marcus Wyatt, another British.

Weston had already clearly run the first two runs. He was impressive 89 hundredths of a second before his compatriot Marcus Wyatt, who in turn drove 12 hundredths faster than Jungk. Christopher Grotheer also had good medal opportunities as fourth.

But the second day was not a good one for Grotheer. Already in the third round a place lost – and more in the fourth round were added. After all, it was only seventh for Germany’s real best skeletoni.

Matt Weston, on the other hand, showed his class again and secured the gold medal with an incredible 1.90 second lead over the next driver.

Axel Jungk initially passed Wyatt in the third run, but then lost second place to Wyatt – Jungk, despite the minimal deficit of three hundredths, was still exuberant over bronze. Felix Keisinger took 14th place at the end.
