US footwear retailer Skechers USA Inc. has appointed Richard Parker as Managing Director for the UK and Ireland markets. He succeeded Peter Youell, who had held the post for more than 18 years. Under his leadership, sales in the region have increased from 10 to 200 million British pounds, Skechers said in a statement. Youell, who joined Skechers in November 2004, will continue to advise the company on “major international projects”.
His successor Parker is also a company veteran. In his 22 years at Skechers, he has “held almost every position in the sales department in Great Britain and Ireland,” the shoe manufacturer explained. Prior to his recent promotion, Parker served as national sales manager for the region.
