Skating team of Sandrine Tas and Mathias Vosté is called Novus

Novus claims to be an innovative team that uses the most modern technology and adopts a decentralized approach. But the team is still looking for sponsors. The twelve sponsors on the website offer only modest support to individual skaters. In addition to the two Belgian drivers, two Englishmen (Ellia Smeding and Cornelius Kersten), an Austrian (Vanessa Herzog) and some Dutchmen have been included in the team.

They are mainly skaters who have already trained in the nameless team of former skater and inline skater Greig in recent months. Novus wants to guide the skaters to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The team has not concluded contracts with the skaters and is not planning to do so for the time being, says a spokesperson. The team does not yet have its own skating suits. Novus has also announced the arrival of an international marathon team.

Don’t worry

The financial worries are not over for Tas and Vosté. “We just gave our group a name, so that we look further for sponsorship in the future,” reports Vosté. In the run-up to the new skating season, Tas and Vosté had to finance training camps themselves. A crowdfunding campaign has even started for Vosté. Until Friday, it had yielded 2,520 euros. The arrival of Novus has no consequences for the KBSF (Royal Belgian Speed Skating Federation). The federation is still sponsorless. The KBSF sends the skaters to the world cup competitions and the major championships.
