Skaters Botman and Scheperkamp take World Cup win in team sprint

Merijn Scheperkamp (Hilversum) and Janno Botman (Andijk) took the World Cup title in the team sprint today. Together with Stefan Westenbroek, the skaters from North Holland finished third. That turned out to be enough for the overall victory in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland.

Initially, the Netherlands grabbed next to a podium place in the team sprint. Canada, Norway and Japan were faster. Due to Japan’s disqualification, the Dutch team finished third.

Scheperkamp already participated in the team sprints in Heerenveen (second) and Calgary (second). For Botman it was his first time in his career that he participated in this part. It was the first gold medal for both skaters at a World Cup.
