Skater Mathias Vosté is skating again and wins first game

As of this summer, Vosté, who lives in Friesland, has more freedom to rollerblade, because he is no longer part of the commercial skating team Reggeborgh. His contract with the sponsor lasted up to and including the Beijing Winter Olympics, which ended in disappointment. Therefore, the undertaking was not renewed.

Everything was arranged for Vosté at Reggeborgh for three years, now he has to figure out training sessions and the preparation for competitions himself. “It is a completely different situation in which I have now ended up,” he previously told skaken.nl. “That’s how it goes: if you don’t perform, you can easily be kicked out of the team.” A groin injury, which he sustained a year before the Games, has determined his sporting life for the last season.

One muscle in the groin was even completely torn. Without a team, Vosté has to wait and see whether he will still receive financial support. The Royal Belgian Speed Skating Federation (KBSF) will decide on this. He assumes that there is money to participate in World Cup competitions this winter. Vosté plans to continue skating until the upcoming Winter Games in 2026.
