Union arrived at the training camp in Spain on Monday. In the afternoon, the first easy running session took place on a palm-lined course at the Real Club de Golf Campoamor Resort near Alicante.
28 players took part. Number 29, midfielder Andras Schäfer (23), later trained with rehabilitation coach Johannes Thienel. After surviving a broken foot, Schäfer kicked the ball for the first time.
While the attacker Tim Skarke (26), who was courted by Schalke, traveled to the Costa Blanca, Morten Thorsby (26) is missing. Due to a minor surgical procedure, the midfielder will only join the team again in Berlin.
The coaching staff played tennis that evening. Union really gets going on Tuesday. Then at 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. there will be full training.
