Sjuul Paradijs, former editor-in-chief of De Telegraaf, is being dealt with harshly because of his somewhat sour performance in the talk show HLF8. “What a horrible man. He knows everything better!”
The talk show HLF8 is a kind of TV village square where all kinds of celebrities can air their opinion. One of them is Sjuul Paradijs, who lives in the broadcast last night sat at the table. It releases quite a bit, because the former editor-in-chief of De Telegraaf is being put through the wringer on social media.
‘Carnival? Infantile!’
Sjuul, for example, is very strict about the carnival celebrations. “I think carnival – I will say that very honestly – is a party for infantiles. I think it’s really stupid.”
Very sour, according to fellow guest Heleen van Royen. “Well, that’s nonsense. That’s really nonsense. I’ve celebrated carnival a few times, I’m from above the rivers and it’s the best party I’ve ever experienced. Everyone is fun, everyone is happy.”
Condescending
Host Johnny de Mol stands up for Sjuul. “Infantile just means a little childish, right?”
Heleen: “No, infantile is condescending.”
Sjuul: “Yes, sorry, but I think that behavioral change…”
Heleen: “I actually understand that humor very well, because it is of course wonderful not to have to pay attention to your words for a few days a year, not to have to pay attention to your jokes. To just let loose. Nobody blames you.”
Hairdresser’s
And when Johnny hands out the Rotterdam snack bar at the end of the broadcast, Sjuul reacts irritated: “I think this is legalized food poisoning. It cannot be the case that we all say that we are going to live healthier and then this kind of dredging. This is for cavemen!”
Johnny: “We’ll skip you for now, Sjuul.”
Sjuul, who lost 85 kilos in a year after a stomach reduction: “We have fifty Michelin restaurants, we are all eating better and healthier. How is it possible that you are about to eat this?”
Fierce criticism
It comes to Sjuul with a lot of criticism. “What a horrible man. You are really not in paradise with that. Know everything better. He thinks,” tweets Amp. En Ljufur: “What a complainer that Sjuul Paradise is. No Sjuul, you draw full houses!”
Cath is done with Sjuul. “Hopefully that Sjuul Paradise will never come to HLF8 again.”
And Hans agrees completely. “How can you invite someone like Paradise? What a self-satisfied guy that is.”
Ferdie: “Sjuul Paradijs, what a huge piece of negative bitch that man is. Let the people celebrate carnival. And YES THERE IS POVERTY in the Netherlands, a lot in fact.”
“What a loser!”
Willy has had it with Sjuul. “Pfff… What a loser that Sjuul. Just stay above those rivers. We will have a party under the rivers in the coming days. Cheers Helen!”
Ton: “Pfff, those Sjuul Umbrella, find carnival infantile. Declare an entire population crazy. What a loser.”
Ramsterdam finds Sjuul’s criticism of the hair salon snack particularly laughable. “Sjuul is like a smoker who has quit and now demands a smoking ban everywhere, and coughs, if you light a cigar three blocks away.”
And Sander: “A man who is very overweight at the table at HLF8 thinks that the hair salon should not be possible… It is special.”
