Sjors kicks on with a cycling tour for charity after an injury to bosom friend Tom

Good friends Sjors Brand and Tom de Vos cycle through the Netherlands to raise money for people with psychological complaints. And not just a bike ride: they cycle four hundred kilometers. This afternoon they passed ‘t Gooi. Unfortunately Tom had to quit, but his father Richard takes over from him. Along the way, Richard and Sjors could tell how it went: “We’ve had two hundred kilometers, now we’ve really started!”

The longest day of the year is today, and on this very day friends Tom and Sjors would face the toughest trial of their lives. But disaster struck: Tom sustained a tear in his muscle on the way, forcing him to dismount. Tom’s father, Richard, has taken over from him.

On a dirt road in Blaricum, Sjors was able to give a short update on how the journey had gone so far: “Richard often says zero sense and just pedal. The swearing has started! Just a headwind, but things are better now.”

Tom has suffered from this himself and is now committed to others. Sjors supports his friend through thick and thin: “Tom himself struggled a lot a few years ago, so it is very brave of him to have dared to open up like this.
