Six people arrested in Assen on suspicion of trafficking in heavy fireworks and drugs

Six people were arrested in Assen on suspicion of possessing or dealing in fireworks or drugs. A large quantity of heavy fireworks, hard and soft drugs, cigarettes and cash were found in four homes.

The police received information about the possible presence of professional fireworks in a home in Assen. A significant amount of heavy fireworks were eventually found in this home. Two underage boys have been arrested for trafficking this.

The investigation into that home also led the police to three other homes in Assen. Fireworks, including so-called shells, cobras and nitrates, were found in a house on Rochtplein. In addition, commercial quantities of soft and hard drugs were found in various homes. All fireworks, drugs and other goods – including a lot of cash – have been seized.

In addition to the two underage boys, a 36-year-old woman, two 20-year-old men and a third underage boy were also arrested. The woman was arrested for possession of fireworks and hard and soft drugs. Both 20-year-old men are suspected of possessing or dealing hard drugs. The third minor suspect has been arrested for trading fireworks and dealing and possessing drugs.
