Six life sentences for man who drove into Wisconsin Christmas parade last year | Abroad

Darrell Brooks drove his car through police barricades on November 21, 2021 and then drove into the annual parade in the city of Waukesha. Six participants in the parade died and more than sixty were injured. Dozens of children were among the victims. The massacre attracted international attention. President Joe Biden called it an “appalling act of violence”.

Brooks was found guilty of all 76 charges against him last month. Addressing the 40-year-old on Wednesday during sentencing, the judge told him, according to CNN, that the case has kept her awake at night: “You have absolutely no regrets whatever you do. You show no compassion to anyone. Mr. Brooks, no one is safe around you. You may have mental health issues, bipolar disorder, or childhood trauma, but that is not the reason for your actions on November 21, 2021.”
