Six landing ships of the Russian Navy entered the Syrian port of Tartus

A detachment of landing ships of the Baltic and Northern fleets arrived at the logistics base of the Russian Navy in the city of Tartus in western Syria, reports TASS with reference to the Ministry of Defense.

The detachment includes six large landing ships “Pyotr Morgunov”, “George the Victorious”, “Minsk”, “Olenegorsky Miner”, “Korolev” and “Kaliningrad”. They completed the passage around Europe and arrived in the eastern region of the Mediterranean Sea during the exercises.

“Currently, the ships are in the roadstead of the Syrian port of Tartus, where they have begun to replenish stocks of fuels and lubricants, drinking water and food to the required standards,” the Defense Ministry noted.

Russian warships can park or repair at this point near Tartus, as well as replenish supplies and restore technical readiness, the agency reports.
