Six cars collapsed on the A1 near Wilp this morning. Between Deventer and Wilp there was a traffic jam around eight o’clock, causing a delay of almost half an hour for road users.
According to the police on the spot, one car had to swerve for something, which is why the accident happened. Four of the six cars involved in the accident were able to reach the exit on their own with damage. Two cars have to be removed with a tow truck. One driver was injured and taken to hospital.
Initially, the two leftmost lanes were closed after the accident, three lanes have now been crossed and traffic has to squeeze through one lane. The traffic jam is now seven kilometers long. Traffic is trying to find an alternative route via the Deventerweg towards Zutphen, which means that it now also drives slowly there.
Accidents occur regularly at the point where the highway goes back from four to three lanes. Last week there was chaos when six cars collided.
