Six arrested at major police check in Venlo | 1Limburg

Six people were arrested during a major police check at various locations in Venlo. More than 100 cars were checked.

The check already took place on Thursday afternoon and evening at Nijmeegseweg and Kaldenkerkerweg, but the police only announced this on Friday. Customs, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and the German police were also involved in the action.

17,000 euros cash
Three people were arrested for carrying weapons or ammunition. The items include pepper spray, a stiletto and an emergency pistol. One person also had 17,000 euros in cash in his car. He could not explain how he got this amount of money and was therefore arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

extradition request
A man was also arrested because he was seen in Poland and there was an extradition request for him. A sixth person was arrested for showing a false driver’s license.

Several motorists were also fined for drug possession, making a phone call behind the wheel, crossing a double solid line and driving without a driver’s license.
