21-year-old Bouchra D., who is suspected of stabbing her 20-year-old sister Anouk, is accused of murder. The stabbing was livestreamed on Instagram. Since Monday, she has been examined in the Pieter Baan Center to assess whether she is accountable for her act. This was revealed in the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday morning.
Anouk was stabbed in Den Bosch on Saturday evening, October 23. The police investigation shows that the stabbing started in the sisters’ own home. The victim was able to flee the house and knocked on the door of a neighbor for help. That’s where the stabbing continued and that’s where she eventually died.
emotional reunion
It was an emotional reunion for Bouchra and her family and friends. When she was led into the courtroom by the police, she saw family and friends sitting in the public gallery. A smile appeared under her mask and she waved at them. Tears welled up in her eyes.
Shortly afterwards, her mother and sister also came in. The women looked at each other with tears in their eyes. Bouchra gave them hand kisses. It must be a mixed feeling for the relatives.
The presiding judge said he understands that it is difficult for them to attend. “It is a family bond. There are very complicated emotions and the court understands that.”
Murder or manslaughter
The public prosecutor tells the court that he is assuming murder for the time being. According to the officer, the suspect did realize at intervals what she was doing. And the fact that ‘several stab objects’ were obtained, according to her, indicates premeditation and therefore murder.
The court that ruled that she will be detained longer, is still assuming manslaughter for the time being.
The suspect himself also gets the chance to respond, but shoots full. “It all comes in a bit much,” she says with a lump in her throat.
The suspect is now being examined at the Pieter Baan Center in Almere. The court will reconvene on April 13 for another pro forma hearing. The substantive hearing of the case will then follow within three months.
