Siska Peeks from Assen on the Party for the Animals candidate list

Siska Peeks from Assen again has a chance to enter the House of Representatives for the Party for the Animals. Peeks, currently a member of Parliament, is 36th on the draft candidate list.

Peeks was also eligible in the previous parliamentary elections in March 2021, when he was 31st on the ballot. Before that, the animal party never put a Drenthe candidate on the list in the national elections. At the time, Peeks was not yet a member of Parliament, but she played a supporting role as a special committee member.

Last week, the Party for the Animals was in deep crisis after intended party leader Esther Ouwehand was put aside by the party board. That was because of alleged integrity violations. After protests from members and administrators in the country, the party board resigned and Ouwehand was nominated as party leader.

The chance that Peeks will move to the Binnenhof is minimal. The polls show a small plus, but even with that growth, Assense does not come close to a seat. The current House of Representatives faction of the Party for the Animals consists of six seats.
