The Sint Joepmarkt: it is a household name in Sittard. Over the past two years, corona threw a spanner in the works, but on Saturday enthusiasts could finally stroll over the annual market again.
Tens of thousands of people came to the center in Sittard on Saturday.
‘Very happy with it’
“I’m very happy to be here again. And with the sun on it, it couldn’t be better,” says exhibitor Anniek Gralla. John van der Rijt also has a stand on the Sint Joepmarkt: “It is very nice that we can be here with so many people again. We are very happy that we could come this way.”
70,000 people
The organizers of the annual fair estimate that about 70,000 people strolled along the route on Saturday afternoon during the peak. And those visitors had a good time. “I really missed the market. I come from Sittard and go every year, since I was little”, says a lady. A boy has found his favorite stall on the Sint Joepmarkt: “I like the bacon the best.”
