A Spanish court has dismissed the complaint of a Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, 45, in a tax fraud case. This means that Shakira will be sent to court on charges of tax fraud. The court finds that they have “sufficient evidence” in the case, the court documents state.

Prosecutors allege that the singer failed to pay taxes of nearly € 14.5 million between 2012 and 2014. They also claim that Shakira lived in northern Spain in Catalonia during those years.

Representatives of the pop star have said that Shakira did not move to Spain until 2015, after which she has fulfilled all the tax obligations imposed on her. Shakira’s legal team said on Thursday, May 26, that he would continue to defend him “on strong legal grounds”.
