Singer Marco Schuitmaker (24) from Peize wins Edison in the Dutch category

Singer Marco Schuitmaker from Peize won an Edison Pop 2024 in the Dutch category on Monday.

Schuitmaker (24), born in Oude Pekela, had a mega hit with the song last summer Guardian Angel. The song turned his life upside down, he said at the end of last year Dagblad van het Noorden. Schuitmaker also performed in the Ziggo Dome.

‘Life has many doubts, but for the winner in this category one thing has always been clear: singing. There must be singing. He already knew that he wanted to do that from the age of eight, but Marco Schuitmaker’s career definitely started this year,” according to the jury report.

Other award winners

Sef and Son Mieux won prizes on Monday at the AFAS Theater in Leusden for best album (I Could Die for Lot But Not for a Flag) and best single (Tonight), respectively. Jan Smit already received the Edison Oeuvre Prize last week.

A total of eleven awards were distributed on Monday. Son Mieux and Kevin had the best chance with two nominations each, but each category ultimately had a unique winner.

Dutch Grammy
