Singer Do from Valkenswaard has punched the controversial band leader Jeroen Rietbergen in the face when he assaulted her at the age of 20. That’s what she said in the podcast All together by Gwen van Poorten. “And did I say to him, ‘Dude, what the f*ck! Why are you doing that?'”
According to Do, it has not happened to her after that. The singer finds it strange that the stories about Rietbergen only came to light so late. “So apparently he has continued it all his life. I was just amazed that it could have come to this for so long. Because I thought everyone already knew.”
Do is pleased that the subject has become more open to discussion thanks to the Boos programme. “I think it’s great that women are much more assertive and dare to say that it is not right. And it has definitely created an awareness among a lot of men,” she said in the podcast†
In an earlier interview with NRC, Do said that she was frequently the victim of transgressive behavior and that six men crossed her borders.
