To strengthen recovery from the crisis, Bpifrance injected 50 billion euros into French companies in 2021. In all, since 2020 and the health crisis, the public bank committed 100 billion euros in the French economy.

In its 2021 activity report, Bpifrance reveals the details of the investments made during the past year. The public bank, controlled by Caisse des Dépôts and the State, reveals three priority areas: industry, technological innovation and energy and environmental transition. the “unsecured loan”a flagship product of Bpifrance, jumped 93% in 2021, with 3.2 billion euros disbursed in 3,309 development projects, including 1 billion “green loans” for finance projects that improve the environmental impact and business energy.

This is the year of all records for Bpifrance. Credit activity increased by 27% in all of Bpifrance’s 50 regional locations. In all, 15.87 billion euros have been injected into development projects. Like all products, the financing of innovation reached an unprecedented level since the creation of Bpifrance with a 45% increase over one year, under the impetus of the recovery plan called for by the government.
This summer, on the occasion of the Viva Technology exhibition, the CNRS and Bpifrance announced their alliance to amplify the transfer of the results of public research, in particular to promote the creation of deep tech. In 2021, 7,654 companies received €4.4 billion “to develop their innovation projects or modernize their technological equipment”.

Bpifrance has also supported the growth of French private investment funds by injecting 1.5 billion euros in 76 private investment funds. A program whose objective is to support people living in priority neighborhoods by making them aware of entrepreneurial professions. With the support of Caisse des Dépôts and the State, the public bank has deployed 9 itinerant buses in these districts. In addition, the 20th anniversary of the Talents des Cités competition, which rewards some thirty business creators from priority neighborhoods, were also celebrated in 2021.
