Simplicity successfully acts in the German fashion landscape as a link between its women’s clothing brands OPUS and someday. With a team of 600 employees, the company has become increasingly larger in recent years and continues to grow. A success factor in sales is the internal trainee program: career starters get to know all of the fashion brands’ sales areas in one year. “At the beginning of my career I was still in the discovery phase and didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. Through the trainee program, I found the task that suits me and that I enjoy,” says Gladys Pastjan, former trainee and now Junior Content and Campaign Manager at Simplicity. “Through the program I came into contact with e-commerce and was immediately fascinated.”
360 degree view of sales
Comprehensive insights into various specialist and interface areas are an integral part of Simplicity’s trainee program: Through practical assignments in the areas of merchandise controlling, e-commerce and field service, as well as shopfitting, retail and logistics, trainees gain a profound understanding of internal processes and requirements. You can always rely on specialist support. “As part of the assignments, the trainees are constantly supported by contact persons who impart the necessary skills and knowledge. True to the motto: Learn from the best,” explains Christine Pott, head of training at Simplicity. The aim is to prepare trainees for specialist and potential management positions in sales by promoting their individual strengths and building a valuable network.
Promoting individual strengths
The program opens up many opportunities for the trainees: “I was able to get to know different areas in the company. “I realized that I really enjoy working in the creative field,” says Gladys Pastjan. After discovering her passion and strengths in the trainee program, Simplicity was able to particularly promote them with individually tailored program content.
Industry-specific know-how
The trainee program promises an ideal opportunity for young talents who are enthusiastic about varied sales processes in office and field sales or in e-commerce. “Applicants who have a flair for fashion and enjoy working with people, analytical contexts and digital tools have come to the right place,” says Christine Pott. A bachelor’s degree with a focus on sales or a comparable degree is an advantage. In addition to strong communication skills, a good understanding of aspects such as visual merchandising is also helpful in order to shine in the twelve-month training. After completing the trainee program, the company can currently boast an impressive retention rate of 100 percent – an indication that clearly underlines Simplicity’s commitment to the development and appreciation of its employees. “We are always looking for motivated sales talent. You can apply all year round,” says Christine Pott. This means that nothing stands in the way of an exciting career in fashion sales at Simplicity.
