Simone Rocha becomes the fifth guest designer to create Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture collection. Rocha follows in the footsteps of Rabanne’s Julien Dossena, Haider Ackerman, Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, Y/Project and Diesel’s Glenn Martens and Sacai’s Chitose Abe.
Rocha is a Chinese-Irish fashion designer who shows during London Fashion Week and is best known for her unique and innovative approach to design. Her work is characterized by a mix of romance and modernity, often with intricate details, unconventional materials and a focus on femininity.
She announced the collaboration with an Instagram story. In the post was a photo of a bouquet of flowers with a signed note from Jean Paul Gaultier. In it, the designer was congratulated on her LFW show and said that they would see each other soon in Paris. A spokesman for Simone Rocha confirmed the collaboration to the trade magazine WWD.
