The International Tennis Integrity Unit (ITIA) announced the decision regarding the 31-year-old tennis player, who has been temporarily banned since October 2022 after testing positive for the banned blood booster “roxadustat” at the US Open last year.
In the statement made by ITIA, it was noted that former world number 1 Halep, who had two grand slam championships in her career, was banned for 4 years.
The Romanian tennis player, whose sentence will expire in October 2026, has the right to appeal the decision.
