Silent journey for deceased Dani (14): ‘It was a beautiful boy’

Hundreds of interested people joined a silent march tonight to pay their last respects to Dani. Two weeks ago, the 14-year-old student of the Oscar Romero College in Hoorn died after a stabbing near his school.

The tour started from the Johannes Poststraat Funeral Home in Hoorn and ended at the Oscar Romero. Among the participants were mayor Jan Nieuwenburg and rector of the school Wessel van de Hoef.

Friends of Dani thought it was important to send out a signal with the trip. “I hope people stop with guns and knives and start talking.” They remember Dani as a ‘beautiful boy’, “and he had a nice smile too”.

At the end of the silent march, flowers were laid at the site of the stabbing. Then followed a long and big applause. Dani is buried in a closed circle.
