El Kaouakibi went to the Brussels court in summary proceedings at the end of 2022 because the Flemish Parliament refused to hire two parliamentary assistants. She was proved right and was still entitled to two part-time employees. El Kaouakibi appointed Aimé Schrauwen and Jiri De Laet, two former Open VLD members. The two employees have also appeared in the Flemish Parliament in recent weeks.
But the collaboration with Jiri De Laet now seems to be coming to an end. The issue would have been briefly discussed on Monday at the Extended Bureau of the Flemish Parliament, in other words the political board of parliament. Because it is a personnel issue, parliamentary chair Liesbeth Homans does not want to comment on the matter. El Kaouakibi himself is not responding for the time being.
