“Significant growth”: Saks strengthens menswear offering

The US fashion retailer Saks Fifth Avenue and its e-commerce platform Saks are increasingly focusing on menswear. “We look forward to continuing to invest in the menswear category, both online and in-store through our exclusive partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue stores,” said Tracy Margolies, Saks chief merchandising officer, in an Aug Notice published Friday. The aim is to further strengthen the retailer’s position as the “ultimate destination for men’s luxury fashion”, according to Margolies. After all, the category has recently experienced “significant growth”.

The long-established company has already made some efforts, both stationary and online, to focus on the menswear sector. A new menswear floor with an expanded range was opened in the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York. More than seventy international luxury brands are now represented there, 23 of which were new in the course of the renovation. The French fashion house Celine opened the first shop-in-shop in the USA that specializes entirely in the Celine Homme men’s line.

The online shop Saks also significantly expanded its range of menswear. In the past year alone, the range in this category has been expanded to include more than 125 brands, the company said. The newcomers include Jacquemus, Jil Sander, Junya Watanabe, Loewe and Sacai. In order to make the search easier for customers and to be able to offer a “tailor-made” service, the online retailer has now set up its own homepage for menswear.
