A fire broke out in a single-family home in Bachmanstraat in The Hague on Wednesday night.
Emergency services received a report of a house fire around 2:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the fire was found to have started in the stairwell. “Because the stairs were badly damaged, we could not use them and we had to enter the house through the window on the first floor,” explains a spokesperson for the fire service.
The neighboring house was temporarily evacuated as a precaution. The flames were quickly extinguished and no one was injured. “There was no one in the house, but the house sustained significant damage.”
It is not yet clear how the fire started.
