Rush’s Signals will be reissued on April 28th as a 40th Anniversary reissue: There will be three categories, the Super Deluxe Edition, the One-LP Picture Disc Edition and the Dolby Atmos Digital” edition. The Canadian rock band’s ninth studio album was originally released in September 1982.
“Signals”: About the record and the band members
The lyrics on the long player were written by drummer Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020. As already read in Brian Hiatt’s ROLLING STONE portrait, he was an “intellectual autodidact who wrote the highly cerebral, often almost philosophical Rush lyrics and authored several books that were half memoirs, half travelogues, but always an extraordinary one talent for details”. Peart constantly took notes, kept a journal, wrote articles for drum magazines and published essays and book reviews on his website.
The other two Rush members Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee wrote the music for the record. The opening track “Subdivisions” was popular at rush concerts, and the song “New World Man” became a radio success.

The three band members were also very enthusiastic about space – so they dedicated the title “Countdown” to the launch of the space shuttle “Columbia” in 1981.
