Sierra Kidd reveals: This is how much musicians earn with Spotify today

Thanks to audio streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, artists no longer need to release an entire album to achieve big success—one hit number is enough. The following applies: the higher the streaming numbers, the higher the profit. Rapper Sierra Kidd reveals how much musicians actually earn with Spotify.

Basically, the amount for a million streams has fallen in recent years: while in the past you could still earn up to 6,000 euros for a million streams, the amount has almost halved to 3,500 euros – but this can still be beneficial for successful acts profit.

Sierra Kidd, one of the biggest rappers in Germany, made his big breakthrough with his song “Living Life, in the Night” from 2018 and landed in the charts within a very short time. To this day, the song is one of his most streamed songs – the 25-year-old musician is not unknown in the United States either. His music is listened to an average of 20 million times a month.

Kidd was signed to the German label Independenza until January 2015. He then founded his own company “TeamFuckSleep”. After a hiatus from social media for almost a year, he finally announced his sixth album TFS (named after his label).

Now Sierra Kidd speaks plain language in his current YouTube video and explains: Spotify pays around 70,000 euros a month on average. Since he is independent of producers and managers with his own brand, the largest share of this sum actually goes to him. In the last seven years alone, he has provided 356 million streams with his music. Of course, not every artist is that lucky.
