Siemens shares: Siemens takes over software provider Brightly for billions

As the DAX company Siemens announced, it is taking over Brightly Software from the USA, a provider of software for plant and maintenance management. The purchase price is US$1.575 billion plus a performance-based component.

With the acquisition, Siemens is supplementing its existing digitization and software know-how in the field of building technology with cloud-based solutions in key sectors such as public infrastructure, education and healthcare as well as manufacturing. The acquisition will also accelerate Siemens’ Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business.

The Munich-based company hopes that the acquisition will result in synergies with a net cash value in the mid three-digit million range. The transaction is expected to be completed in the current calendar year. The acquisition will have a positive impact on earnings per share before purchase price allocation effects (EPS pre PPA) in the second year after closing.

Brightly employs around 800 people. Sales in 2022 were around 180 million US dollars. The company has belonged to the financial investor Clearlake Capital since 2019.
