Munich (AP) – The German Clásico FC Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund is known for its explosiveness. And now, in Niklas Süle, there is also a prominent side changer in the star ensemble of the Bundesliga top game on Saturday (6.30 p.m. / Sky).
“Of course he wants to prove to his new club that he was rightly called,” said Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann about defender Süle, who has recovered from the flu and will be “rather more motivated” than less against his future club.
The national player switched from Hoffenheim to Munich in the summer of 2017 for around 20 million euros. This summer he is leaving FC Bayern for free – and is moving to BVB. He should defend there until the summer of 2026. “Niklas will try to win the game with FC Bayern. We will try to prevent that,” said his future coach Marco Rose.
Süle was also thrown back by serious injuries in Munich. His farewell was not without noise. The defense attorney’s advisor cited a lack of appreciation as a reason for the change. The longtime Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge replied sharply: “Appreciation is a unit called the euro – nothing else.”
