Sick Shane MacGowan is visited by the boss Springsteen in Dublin

Bruce Springsteen paid fellow musician Shane MacGowan a visit in Dublin. Springsteen is currently in the Irish capital for three headline shows with his E Street Band on May 5th, 7th and 9th.

Victoria Mary Clarke, MacGowan’s wife, shared a picture of the two together on her Twitter channel. “What a great honor and beautiful experience to be visited by the boss,” she wrote in the post. “Such a thoroughly wonderful man and a total genius,” she enthuses.

The encounter caused joy among the fans

The post quickly garnered a lot of positive feedback from fans, who were excited for the two musicians to meet. “That saved my whole day! There’s a lot of amazing stuff to see in this photo!!! It makes me happy to see that,” wrote one Twitter user. Another agreed, writing: “Two geniuses! So much respect for you both. Great picture,” while a third added, “What a wonderful gesture. Two great artists and decent people.”

In addition to his three headline appearances in Dublin, Bruce Springsteen will also be in Edinburgh at the end of May and in Birmingham and at the “British Summer Time” festival at the end of July. The European part of his tour started in Barcelona and will stop in Italy, France and finally Germany.

The Pogues singer made headlines last year when he was hospitalized with encephalitis. MacGowan is still recovering from the illness, so he is currently in a wheelchair.
